Loop powered backlight for BEKA loop powered 4/20mA indicators

Further enhancing their extensive range of 4/20mA loop powered intrinsically safe indicators, BEKA associates have introduced optional loop powered backlighting for all their field and panel mounting models.

This new accessory provides green background illumination for the LCD display enabling the instrument to be read at night and in poor lighting conditions. No additional power supply, Zener barrier, galvanic isolator or field wiring are required, although the indicator's voltage drop is increased. Loop powered backlighting is particularly useful for remote field mounting indicators where additional cables are not available and the cost of an additional IS interface can not be justified.

All indicator models can still be supplied with an optional separately powered backlight, which provides a bright orange output to enhance daylight viewing.

For safety reason both backlights are factory fitted options, but BEKA associates are able to update existing instruments without invalidating the ATEX and FM intrinsic safety certification of the instruments.
